Biography
Tina Gorter, a collaborative pianist and piano instructor, comes to The University of Notre
Dame from Western Michigan University where she served as a staff pianist and a
collaborative piano techniques instructor. She continues to be the assistant director and
pianist for the Kalamazoo Male Chorus, as well as performing on the concert stage as the
pianist for the Southwest Michigan Vocal Festival, Grand Rapids Opera, and various guest
artists throughout West Michigan. Along with her active performing career, she regularly
serves as a clinician and adjudicator for collaborative piano workshops and festivals.
She holds a position as the Collaborative Outreach Coordinator for Fontana Chamber Arts
in Kalamazoo, MI where her current initiative focuses on the importance of collaborative
skill development in young musicians. Through Fontana Chamber Arts, she has created a
collaborative piano program where she coaches intermediate to advanced students and
fosters collaborative opportunities for them within the public schools and community.
Tina's education includes a D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University, a
M.M. in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Collaborative Performance from Western
Michigan University, and a B.M. from the University of Montana.
