Emily Matz

Biography

Emily Matz received a Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Early American studies and a Certificate of International Studies from Indiana University. Emily has worked at Notre Dame since 2001 with roles in both Parking Services and Notre Dame Police before finding her home with the Department of Music in 2014.

In the Department of Music, Emily is the Senior Staff Assistant, aka the Front Desk. Her role specializes in guest relations and customer support. Some of what she helps coordinate are music lessons every semester, prospective student visits, and all general departmental inquiries. Emily has spent time on the University’s Staff Advisory Council, the University Mentor Program as well as the Parking Appeals Committee.

Emily’s goal is to work at the University of Notre Dame longer than her father worked as an electrician at one local business (42 years). She is over halfway there. Emily, her husband Jim, and their four children live in South Bend and enjoy their proximity to campus and the family-friendly opportunities that provides.
