Author: Noelle Elliott

Vocal Performance majors Katie Surine '18 and Aileen Markowitz '19 have both been selected to attend the Ezio Pina Council of American Singers of Opera ( EPCASO) this summer in Oderzo, Italy.  The EPCASO program is an intense six-week study program in the Veneto region of Italy specifically for young singers who show great promise in the areas of Italian Opera. The students will have Italian lessons daily and will participate in numerous concerts and staged performances. They have the opportunity to study daily with sopranos Claudia Pinza and Marias Chiara, conductor Maurizio Arena, famed La Scala coach Enza Ferrara, and will also work on Baroque music with mezzo soprano, Vivica Genaux. Both Surine and Markowitz are students of Deborah Mayer,  who is an alumni of the Ezio Pina Council of American Singers of Opera.
