BL Shirelle

Musician and activist BL Shirelle is the co-executive director of FREER Records, the first non-profit record label for prison-impacted musicians in the United States. In this presentation, Shirelle will discuss the richness of prison music, past and present. She will also share some of her music and discuss elements of her own life and career in a conversation moderated by Jon Bullock, Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology in the Department of Music.
