The University of Notre Dame Departments of Music and of Film, Television, and Theatre will host a guest virtual master class by theatre artist and voice specialist Melissa Foster, Senior Lecturer at Northwestern University. Students in the interdisciplinary Musical Theatre Minor program at Notre Dame will perform in the Leighton Concert Hall and be taught by Ms. Foster remotely in the public master class via Zoom.
As a voice teacher, Melissa Foster specializes in musical theatre, pop styles, the history and performance of hip-hop, and opera/musical theatre crossover. Her scholarly book project, The Scenario: Hip-Hop History and Performance Techniques for Musical Theatre, examines the pathway into hip-hop performance with historical and cultural awareness, vocal health, and authenticity.
