Notre Dame Band to Present ‘An Irish Celebration’ Concert on Sunday, November 19

The Notre Dame Band is proud to present its Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band in concert on Sunday, November 19 at 3 pm in Leighton Concert Hall at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.  Titled ‘An Irish Celebration’, the concert will feature guest conductor Ronan O’Reilly of the Artane School of Music in Dublin, Ireland.  In addition to traditional and modern Irish music, the bands will also perform works by Claude T. Smith, Alfred Reed, and Sergei Prokofiev.

 

The concert's grand finale will feature nearly 200 musicians performing on stage as both bands combine for several selections, including Notre Dame favorites.

Dating back to 1845, the Notre Dame Band is the oldest college band in continuous existence in the United States. The Band was the recipient of the Sudler Trophy, considered the Heisman Trophy for college bands, and was declared a "Landmark of American Music" by the Indiana Music Educators Association.
