Departmental documents advise all first-year students to meet with the Director of Undergraduate Studies before registering for classes.
Music majors should meet with their adviser once a semester before registering for classes to talk about their progress towards their degree.
Music majors, in the performance concentration, are required to perform an annual jury or recital in order to receive feedback from faculty on their performance and musical progress.
It is your responsibility as a student to:
- Know the course and credit requirements for the major.
- Be aware of your progress in the degree program.
- Seek appropriate advising in the Department and the Dean's Office in 105 O'Shaughnessy.
Each major will be assigned a faculty adviser who must be consulted in person to discuss the program of study before a student may register for classes.
Undergraduate majors should meet with their adviser each semester before registering for classes. During those meetings the advisee will discuss scheduling in the Department of Music, and his or her progress toward meeting University and College requirements.
For additional information about advising, admission, courses, and requirements within the Department of Music, contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies. For advising issues involving an additional major or minor, see the relevant individual in that department. For issues involving university and college requirements, and for information about graduation, final exams, or excused absences, see the dean of your college.
