Dan Stowe has won the Joyce Award for Excellence in Teaching. As the award citation explains, "The Joyce Award annually recognizes faculty members who have had a profound influence on undergraduate students through sustained
exemplary teaching." The citation goes on to explain that "Students and faculty members submitted nominations for this year's Joyce Awards, and an interdisciplinary faculty committee selected [Dan] from among the many outstanding nominees. [Dan joins] an exceptionally talented cohort of educators across the University , and [the University] is deeply indebted to [Dan] for the extraordinary contributions he has made to undergraduate education at Notre Dame."
Dan Stowe has been a member of the Notre Dame faculty since 1993, he directs the Notre Dame Glee Club, Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and Notre Dame Collegium Musicum. He has conducted the University Chorus, Chamber Singers and Early Music Ensemble of U.C. Davis, as well as the Cornell Chorale and Cayuga Vocal Ensemble. Stowe has also appeared as a guest conductor with the South Bend Symphony and the South Bend Chamber Singers.
