ND Graduate Named Executive Director of Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus

The Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus announced this month the appointment of Daniel Malloy Crupi (’11) as its next executive director. Crupi will assume his post in March 2019 and joins The Santa Fe Symphony from the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, where he has served as chief operating officer since 2016. Prior to his role as COO, he served as director of development and public relations with the orchestra.

Recent ND Graduate Presents His Research on Opera at Prestigious International Conferences

This January found Edward Jacobson (class of ’13) back on campus as part of a visit to Chicago to present his research at a joint meeting of the Modern Language Association and the American Historical Association. This was the latest in a series of international conference presentations that Edward has given during his time in graduate school, including two meetings of the American Musicological Society (2016: Vancouver, BC; 2018: San Antonio, TX), the Biennial International Conference on 19th-century Music (2014: Toronto, ON; 2016: Oxford, UK; 2018: Huddersfield, UK), and the Transnational Opera Studies Conference (2017: Bern, CH).

When he graduates in May, Alex Mansour plans to become a composer.

Well, that isn’t accurate exactly — though he’s still a full-time student, Mansour is already a composer. If you’ve been to a football game or watched a Notre Dame promo video in the past couple of years, you’ve probably heard some of his tunes. Music Department Alum Appointed to Artistic Leadership Position while Excelling as Scholar and Teacher

Jacques Dupuis (‘11) was recently appointed a member of the board of directors for Boston-based choral-orchestral ensemble Calliope, following tenures as its assistant music director (2013-2016) and artistic director (2017-2018). As Calliope’s artistic director, he worked to diversify programming, creating performing editions and leading performances of large-scale works by composers in demographics generally underrepresented in performance canons, like Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Cécile Chaminade, and Amy Beach. He will continue to support this mission in his role as a board member.
