Kate Ragan, a 2021 summa cum laude graduate of Notre Dame with a B.A. in piano performance and political science, was commissioned to compose two works in on the occasion of Harmony and Dissonance: Orphism in Paris, 1910-1930, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, November 8, 2024-March 9, 2025.
Kate is now a DMA candidate in composition at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, where she also studies piano and received a masters in composition in 2023. These two new works, inspired by paintings by Alexander Archipenko and Vasily Kandinsky, can be enjoyed at the links below:
Through a research collaboration with Eastman Performing Arts Medicine and Eastman Community Music School, Kate is a piano instructor for adult students with Mild Cognitive Impairment and an accompanist for ENCORE, a choir dedicated to community members with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
