This latest addition to the celebrated Onslow series (Catalogue No. 8.574709) continues Naxos’s dedication to presenting the lesser-known music of Onslow.
Recorded with exceptional artistry, this album features two of Onslow’s most compelling string quintets — String Quintet No. 14 in F Major, Op. 37 and String Quintet No. 24 in D Major, Op. 59 — both arranged for string quartet and double bass. The program explores Onslow’s inventive approach to chamber writing, with lyrical warmth, dramatic flair, and intricate ensemble interplay that highlight his unique voice within the Romantic tradition.

This release holds special significance for Notre Dame Professor Patrick Yim, who appears on the album alongside colleagues Natalie Lin Douglas (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Matthew Baker (Berklee Valencia), Jamie Clark (University of Iowa), and Eric Wong (Vanderbilt University). The album was recorded in the LaBar Recital Hall at the University of Notre Dame.
