There will be no time for pickleball when Assistant Professor of Music Theory Johanna Frymoyer
At her first stop in Tallahassee, Frymoyer will lead a workshop on her forthcoming book Modernist Movements (Oxford University Press) with students and faculty in the College of Music at Florida State University.
From there, she will travel to Jacksonville for the annual meeting of the Society for Music Theory, where she, along with Robert Hatten (University of Texas at Austin) and Jonathan De Souza (University of Western Ontario), have organized a special session entitled “Reconceiving Texture: Style, Temporality, Expression, and Performance.” The session will be live-streamed on Friday, November 8 at 2:15pm and can be viewed here.
“It’s great to have opportunities to explore these ideas with so many different audiences,” says Frymoyer. “The themes of my talks tie in well with the advanced seminar (Music as Drama) I’m teaching this semester.” She adds, “My students did, however, want my assurance that I would still be rooting for Notre Dame in this Saturday’s game against Florida State University.”
