Suzann Young-Davids teaches harp at the University of Notre Dame. She also serves on studio faculties at Valparaiso University, St. Mary's College, Goshen College, and Indiana University-South Bend. Formerly she was a member of the faculty at University of Denver, Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado, and University of Wyoming. She is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, and later received an M.A. and an M. F. A. in harp performance at Iowa State University, under the tutelage of Carlos Salzedo. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law.
Ms. Davids has directed masterclasses internationally, including in Germany, Costa Rica and in Bangkok, Thailand. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras nationally and internationally. She has toured with orchestras supporting the American Ballet Theatre, the Joeffrey Ballet Company, Frank Sinatra, and Barry Manilow. She has also held harp positions with the orchestras of the Santa Fe Opera, Central City (CO) Opera, Denver Opera and Denver Ballet, the South Bend (IN) Symphony, and Midwest Pops Orchestra.
In 1976, Ms. Davids was presented (along with her daughter, Deborah Davids Holzworth) in recital at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center as the performing representatives for the state of Colorado in celebration of the nation's bicentennial. Ms. Davids has served as a music reviewer for MLA Notes, and she has recorded on the Musical Heritage Society label. She was awarded an honorary membership from Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity for her outstanding pedagogy and performance of contemporary American composers.
