Candace Thomas is a native of South Bend, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she was a student of Peter Salaff. While at Eastman, she played in the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, and served as assistant concertmaster of the Eastman Philharmonia at the Carnegie Hall performance in 1990. She was also a member of the Heidelberg Castle Festival Orchestra in West Germany in the summer of 1989. Candace performed in master classes with Catherine Tait and Zvi Zetlin. She played for eight seasons in the Austin Symphony (TX) and the Austin Lyric Opera orchestra. Other Texas appointments included the Laredo Philharmonic, the Mid-Texas Symphony and the Victoria Symphony. She received a Master's degree in music from the University of Notre Dame in 2003. Currently she is a member of the South Bend Symphony and the Southwest Michigan Symphony.
