Donald W. Savoie presently teaches non-classical styles of piano and guitar, contemporary songwriting and the history of rock and roll at the University of Notre Dame. He directs the Guitar Ensemble and the Rhythm and Blues Ensemble at Notre Dame, and is the past director of the Guitar Ensemble at Indiana University at South Bend.
Currently performing throughout northern Indiana, southern Michigan, and Chicago, he serves lead vocalist and performs on electric and acoustic guitars, piano, harmonica, bass and percussion. He has performed at many festivals and in concerts with such artists as Joe Cocker, Patti Smith, Rasey Lewis, Weather Report, Koko Taylor, Luther Allison and John Lee Hooker. His music style is "blue-eyed soul" steeped in Memphis R & B, Motown and Detroit boogie and electric Chicago blues.
