John Arrigo-Nelson’s music has been performed and broadcast throughout the United States and in Europe, and in 2003, he appeared as featured guest composer on Kalvos & Damian’s New Music Bazaar on WGDR radio in Vermont. He has received various awards and recognition, including a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, and Honorable Mention in both the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould and Brian Israel Competitions. In 2000, he was a student at the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt for the 40th International Summer Courses in New Music, where he studied with Olga Neuwirth and Isabel Mundry and participated in Salvatore Sciarrino’s master classes. His music frequently employs the simultaneous use of conflicting tempi, and two of his compositions have been analyzed and included on composer John Greschak’s website dealing with polytemporal music (www.greschak.com). He has been an adjunct faculty member at Stony Brook University and Suffolk County Community College where he taught musicianship, theory, form and analysis, and composition.
