This concert is brought to you by the Composers' Consortium of Notre Dame (CoCoND), a student-led organization of musicians interested in exploring and pursuing the craft of classical composition. The Consortium premiered its first composers’ concert in Spring 2016 and now is in its second year as an official entity. We seek to foster a supportive community of composers and to establish a tradition in which students can freely compose, rehearse, and perform one another's original, peer-reviewed works on a regular basis. Our primary activities involve arranging public concerts dedicated exclusively to new works written by Notre Dame, SMC, and Holy Cross students. CoCoND assists composers in recruiting performers, obtaining rehearsal space, and recording these pieces. It also arranges regular meetings throughout the school year for both officers and members to present in-progress compositions to their peers. CoCoND enjoys the full endorsement of the Department of Music, with Assistant Professor of Theory and Composition John S. Liberatore serving as our faculty advisor. This concert is the 4th of its kind in Notre Dame history. The program will last approximately one hour, and will be followed by a post-concert reception.
